In Obninsk launched a unique complex of proton therapy

The launch complex was conducted in accordance with the calendar plan of implementation of Gosudarstvennogo with the Ministry of industry and trade.

Domestic proton therapy complex "Prometheus", developed by ZAO "PROT" (Protvino), which is among the ten leading developers and manufacturers of proton beam therapy systems.

The unit is designed for high-precision radiotherapy of cancer patients through three-dimensional multiple (up to 36 fields) radiation of tumors of the small scanning beam of protons.

Key elements of the complex are compact synchrotron (diameter 5 m, weight 20 t), which has no analogues in the world, as well as the original positioning system of the patient and planning of irradiation.

Complex "Prometheus" allows proton therapy to patients with tumors of various localizations, including brain tumors, sarcomas of the skull base and adjacent to the cervical spinal cord regions, tumors of the head and neck, prostate, lung, breast, etc.

Creation and distribution in the near future Russian proton accelerator "Prometheus" - another significant step on the road to import substitution in the area of providing high-tech medical care.
